Hello, Newborn Photo Friends!

I'm delighted you've chosen me to take pictures of your new baby! Please review this letter prior to our session so that you know how to prepare and what to expect, and don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions or ideas that you might have. I'm so looking forward to meeting you!

There are a few forms to fill out to reserve your spot!

You can fill out your get-to-know-you survey here.

You can sign your contract here.

You can pay you $100 session deposit here (make sure to choose the correct link for your location).

How To Prepare

I usually take photos in the baby's room and often in the parent's bedroom or living room as well. Honestly-- whatever part of your home gets decent light and makes you feel happy is best!  There's no need to clean the house top to bottom before the shoot, but it's helpful if the baby's room and the parent's bed are cleared of clutter. If you have a white bed or light-colored comforter or sheets, please put those on your bed. If not, please don't worry-- we will make the pictures beautiful!

Many of the pictures that we take will be pure and natural, with baby just in a diaper or a simple onsie or swaddle. However, if you have a special outfit or two that you'd like for the baby to wear during the photo shoot, feel free to set that aside as well. Parents often ask what they should wear themselves. Family photos look best when parents wear comfortable clothing in non-matching light neutral colors. If you feel comfortable, you will look great, and paler neutral colors reflect light softly and are universally flattering.

I will come to the shoot with plenty of ideas for shots, but feel free to take a moment prior to the shoot to jot down any ideas you might have. Are there certain places in the house that feel special to you? Any family heirlooms you'd like to include in the photos? A baby blanket you love? Do you want to make sure to get a shot with the dog? Just let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen!

Finally, prior to my arrival, make sure that baby is fed and that the house is nice and warm. A toasty baby with a full stomach will be a more cooperative photo subject!

What to Expect

When I first arrive at your home we'll spend a few moments getting to know one another, and then I'll get down to business! I'll take a quick look around your home to find the space with the best light, and then I'll set up my gear (I don't travel with much!)

I usually begin by taking solo pictures of the baby, and then move on to posed and candid photos of the family. I schedule plenty of time for snuggles, diaper changes and feeding breaks, so don't hesitate to do whatever you need to do for your baby during the shoot! This will also lead to some really sweet candids.

When I take pictures of the baby with family members, I will often gently suggest and model poses that will produce beautiful pictures. Feel free to interact spontaneously with the baby and one another!

After the Shoot

Once our session is over, I will select the 50 best images and hand-edit them individually. I typically deliver a finished gallery two weeks after our session. I will send you the link and password to a private online album, which will allow you access full-sized files of each image. As indicated in my contract, please do tag Anna Carson DeWitt Photography if you post any photos from our session on Facebook or Instagram.

The album has unlimited downloads, so feel free to send the link along to other family members that might like to see or download the files. That’s a lot easier than sending bulky high-res image files through email!

You will receive a print release along with your files that permits you to order prints of all photos from the lab of your choice. You'll also have the option to order art-quality prints from my professional lab. Just use the shopping cart icon on each proof photo to select the size and quantity of prints you'd like, and don't hesitate to get in touch if I can help!

Your online album will remain active for 30 days after you receive your email, so please make sure to download all files during that time, or let me know if you need extra time.

Thank you so much for inviting me to take pictures of you family during this incredibly intimate, special time. It's really an honor. Please let me know if there are any other questions that I can answer, and know that I'm looking forward to our session!

Warmly,

Anna
